Mingus was a part of Hobbes and Co., a name we made up to easily refer to the four cats we made friends with in the months of June - July 2019. Mingus was the last cat we neutered because he was the most feral, an adult cat with a lot of health problems. Mingus was the toughest case we've handled, he was not allowed to be sterilized the first time we brought him to the vet because he was malnourished, had uremic breath, and lots of mites. He got the needed deworming, flea and tick treatment, and other prescribed meds plus antibiotics for two weeks with close monitoring before we were able to bring him back for neutering. When he moved in with us he was not very active, always resting on my lap or arm, but had a good appetite. After some time we found out he had advanced stage chronic kidney disease, and then the subcutaneous injections began. During that period he was very cooperative, and seldom gave me a problem with the injections. I first saw him play almost five months after he became an indoor cat, and only twice. He got very sick again but this time did not recover even with the injections. He succumbed to kidney failure and died in my arms last May 10, 2020.
